Holiday Kenya style

Make this festive season, MEMORABLE!

It is that time of the year when we usher in the festive season, and the usual Christmas rituals are the in-thing. Same old activities become very agonizing if not flavoured often. This holiday, why not engage in new groundbreaking and enticing out of town travel?

Kenya has spectacular spots that will glitter your holiday travel options this festive season.  Think of Nairobi and you will be spoilt of amazing choices. The Nairobi National Park located 15 minutes drive from the city centre along Langata road will get your celebratory juices going.

The park prides itself globally as the only of its kind located right next to a city. Its major attractions are the Impala Observation Tower, Ivory Burning Site, King Fisher Gorge, Leopard Cliffs, Mokoiyet, the Hippo Pool and Nairobi Safari Walk & Orphanage.   Before embarking on the trip, you can enjoy a wild meal at the elevated Nairobi Rangers Hotel located at the park's main gate.

Facing central Kenya is the awe-inspiring Mt. Kenya. You can enjoy the awesome sight of rugged series of peaks crowned with snow, and slopes thick with forest. Trekking is Mt Kenya's main tourist attraction and anybody of reasonable fitness can attempt point Lenana (4,985m).  So, whilst here, expect to flex your thigh power, rouse your cardio-vascular strength as you journey the varied vegetation that leads to the peak of the mountain.

Among the routes leading to the foot of Mt. Kenya is Nanyuki, a small but very lively town positioned on the mountain’s slopes. The town has one of the most beautiful view-points of the mountain, and is a hub for trekkers climbing the Sirimon route hence its accommodation is varied.  The best include the famous Mt. Kenya Safari Club that once boasted of a member list that included Sir Winston Churchill and the Sportsman's Arms Hotel.

For those who feel they cannot stand this grueling trek, you will be spoilt of choice as there are a number of parks and reserves in the vicinity of Nanyuki, the most obvious one being Mount Kenya National Park. Others are Sweet Waters Game Reserve, Lewa wildlife Conservancy, Samburu National Reserve and Shaba National Reserve.

Central Kenya is also home to the volcanic ranges of the Aberdare. The main attraction is the unusual vegetation, rugged terrain, streams, waterfalls and indigenous forest that combine to create an area of great scenic beauty in the Aberdare National Park.
